One of the greatest things about the watch world is the plethora of interesting and incredible people that it attracts. We’re very fortunate that we get to meet many of these people as we travel the world looking for great watches and great stories to tell about them. There are few people though who have made a bigger impression on those of us at HODINKEE HQ than Mr. Max Bernardini. In the center of Milan you’ll find Bernardini Luxury Vintage, the home for all things old and awesome that Max himself established. We paid him a visit back in 2013 as part of The Road To Basel, and it’s about time we give it another look.

Ducking into the expansive boutique, you’d be forgiven for mistaking it for an extremely well-appointed living room of some modern day Italian noble. But if you look past the tufted leather sofas you’ll notice the abundance of vintage trunks from the likes of Louis Vuitton, Hermès, and Goyard, which, upon opening, reveal retrofitted places for holding watches, wine, and all manner of other special things. Bernardini’s specialty – in addition to dealing in top-flight vintage Rolex and Patek Philippe watches themselves – is modifying other vintage items, including luggage, Atmos clocks, and design objects, to suit his customers modern lives. If you’re ever in Milan, we highly recommend visit Bernardini Luxury Vintage, asking for a Negroni, and enjoying an experience you just won’t find anywhere else.
